Flying High in Pickering
Featuring a joy-filled image of a father and daughter pretending to play “airplanes”, the City of Pickering has launched a marketing campaign to convince residents it would be fun to live beside an airport. Ignoring for a moment the palpable irony and insult-to-injury of portraying this as a “happy families” situation, given the decades of […]
City of Pickering ready to “embrace” airport!
The City of Pickering “embraces” an airport on farmland! Join us in telling our MPs that we do NOT. In a move described as ‘sneaky’ and ‘underhanded’, this week council broke with 45 years of history and declared itself in favour of the proposed Pickering airport. The recommendation in support of an airport was buried in a bid […]

UPDATE Newsletter for March: 45th Anniversary of Expropriation Edition
It was 45 years ago today that thousands of people learned their homes, farms, communities — their very lives — had been taken over, without warning, by the government. It was a massive expropriation for an airport that was never built.
We salute the heroes of People or Planes, who fought back, and we look at where we stand now in Pickering and on the international stage! Read more in UPDATE Newsletter #39 – March 2, 2017: 45th Anniversary of Expropriation Edition.
