Our research paper “Airports and Pollution: Environmental Consequences of an Airport on the Pickering Federal Lands” looks at aviation-caused pollution and its effects. It shows why aviation’s plans for emissions reduction are doomed to fail; the pollution a Pickering airport would introduce to the Lands, national park, and wider community; and explains why a “green airport” is an oxymoron. It’s an eye-opener.

The pro-airport side is attempting to sway voters and federal candidates with a massive marketing campaign funded by the public purse and developer dollars to ‘sell’ the idea of a green ‘aerotropolis’. They want voters to tell candidates that they want an airport, and then choose the candidates who agree. But we say it’s time to demand action on climate change, and to tell candidates we will only support those who say NO to an airport.
