OTTAWA CONFIRMS: NO AIRPORT IN NORTH PICKERING!
Yesterday, the Minister of Transport, the Hon. Anita Anand, announced the end of the 53-year threat of a future airport on the Pickering Lands. We were told that the “vast majority” of these “high conservation value lands” will be transferred to Parks Canada, and a formal consultation process, involving local stakeholders, will soon be launched “to determine the best future uses of the lands.” We are awaiting clarification of this aspect from the federal government.
