This year, we were delighted to hold our AGM in Brougham Hall. Close to 80 people came to hear historian Dr John Sabean recount the fascinating history of the hamlet of Altona, expropriated for an airport in 1972. On display were stunning paintings by Mark Fordham – century homes, a schoolhouse, a community centre – reminders of the pride and beauty that were lost to misguided government plans and dereliction of duty over 50 years. Our Chair delivered a recap of the past year’s activities, which elicited long and loud applause.
